    Mental Monday – Mom guilt

If you are a mom you know what I am talking about when I say mom guilt. It is the overwhelming feeling of guilt that you are feeling when you think you are not doing enough for your kids. This is something that starts when you first find out you’re pregnant. Are you eating the right foods? Are you doing resting enough so you doing injury the baby? Are you getting enough exercise? And then you have your baby. If it is your first or even your last you never feel like you know exactly what you’re doing. Do you breastfeed or do you bottle feed? What if you can’t produce…

    6 week health challenge – Co-worker version

So, my coworkers and I are starting a 6 week health challenge on 03/26. This is something that we did last year and some of us rocked it and some of us failed…miserably. We all put $20 in a pot and whoever “won” at the end got the pot. So, what is this challenge consist of you ask? We give points for certain tasks which I will outline below. We start with some beginning measurements; arms, chest, waist, hips, and thighs. We decided not to go based on weight because everyone’s body types are so different. At the end of the 6 weeks whoever has lost 5% of their total…

    Instant Pot Russian Chicken

Every Thursday I am going to be posting a new recipe. They won’t always be Instant Pot recipes, but I am just on an Instant Pot kick lately. This will help me branch out and try some new recipes and even write down of some of the “recipes” that Jason makes. This week, we had what I call Russian Chicken. This is a recipe that I randomly found about a year ago and now is one of my family’s favorite meals. We used to make this in the oven but I found a recipe that allows me to make it in the Instant Pot in half the time! Here is…

    What am I doing??!!

When Jason and I went to Curacao a little over a year ago, his boss asked me “what are you hobbies?” I thought for a minute and then awhile and told him I really don’t have any. He looked at me and said really? What do you like to do for fun, what is something that you do for yourself? I thought some more and I literally couldn’t think of one thing. He told me that I have to find something that I like to do for myself. Ever since then I have been really trying to find something that I like and do for myself. I am not going…

Life is stressful. Work, kids, home, family, school, you need to find ways to cope with or combat the stressors in your life. I have 3 ways to de-stress that can be done today to help relax you and deal with those stressors.   Take a calming bath. I have started a weekly tradition for myself is to take a bath every Sunday night before the week. This helps to relax me and mentally prepare for the work week and kids school/activity week. Menu Plan Sunday

Every Sunday I will be posting our dinner menu for the week. I will also highlight some deals in our area on household and groceries too so you can save some money! Time for a confession, last week we were terrible at our meals. We had pizza for dinner…more than once. I have been struggling like crazy with my anxiety so I had nothing prepped for dinners, or breakfasts, or lunches. It was rough. This week I am going to be reusing some of my meals and hopefully have a better week! Monday:  Chicken Quesadillas from leftover chicken from this recipe. Tuesday: Steak Sandwiches Wednesday: Russian chicken using this recipe. Thursday: Creamy…

    Instant Pot Salsa Chicken

We made chicken burritos last night for dinner and thanks to my Instant Pot we had the chicken for them done and ready to eat in about 20 minutes. I used to cook this kind of chicken in my crock pot for tacos and it would take all day while I was at work to cook and be done. Now even if they are frozen I can have them ready in under 30 minutes. Here is a step by step guide on how I did it. I remembered to pull my chicken breasts out of the freezer to let them thaw, but if you needed to use frozen chicken breasts…

Savings accounts and allowances for children

I just started recently giving our kids a weekly allowance. They get $5.00 a week if they get all their chores done. If they don’t get them all done we pro-rate what they did get and give them the pro-rated amount. I have a 9 year old and 7 year old and some of their chores include, making their beds, cleaning their room, feeding the pets, emptying and filling the dishwasher, doing their homework, and reading for 20 minutes each day. I also want to encourage activity so I made a deal with each of them, for every ten thousand steps they get each day they get a dollar. So,…
